Valerie is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Board-Certified Counselor, and Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor. She earned a master’s degree in Community Counseling from Western Connecticut State University. She earned her undergraduate degree in Fine Art with certification in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment programs. She has over thirty years of experience working with addiction, depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, personality disorders, anger management, spectrum disorders, legal issues, grief and bereavement.
Valerie also works with couples and families with the focus on resolving conflict, developing insight to improve communication, and fostering respect.
Valerie’s focus is person centered. Therapy is a collaborative partnership to create strategies and interventions to address the presenting needs of the client. Treatment modalities may include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Journaling, expressive therapies, family therapy, radical acceptance, and homework. In a safe space the objective is to create individualized treatment plan to assist the client on their personalized journey to wellness sustainable change.
